 Nasal Polyps- A penduculated portion of oedematous mucosa of nose and paranasal sinuses.Polyppous=POLY POUS(MANY FOOTED).Nasal Polyp are non neoplastic mass of edematous nasal or sinus mucosa.An inflammatory reaction involvingthe mucous membrane of nose ,the paranasal sinus ,often lower airways.Presents with grape like appearance having a body and a stalk.

Clinically Types-

  • Ethmoidal Polyposis.
  • Antrochoanal .
  • Sphenochoanal.
  • True choanol.

Causes of Nasal polyp-

  • Chronic inflammation.
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Post Rhinosinusitis.
  • Aspirin Sensitivity.

Symptom of Nasal Polyp -

  • Runny Nose.
  • Stuffiness that won't  go away .
  • Postnasal drip.
  • Reduced sense of smell or no sense of smell at all.
  • Inability  to taste.
  • Headache.
  • Pain in the upper teeth.
  • Pressure over the face,including the forehead.
  • Excessive snoring.
  • Itchiness around the eyes.

Prevention from Nasal Polyps-

  • Use a humidifier.
  • Use a nasal spray or rinse.
  • Avoid nasal irritants.
  • Dust ,deberies smokin and common allergens cause inflammation in the nasal passage and sinus.
