C3 GLOMERULOPATHY (C3G)
Is a rare group of kidney disorders characterized by abnormal activation of the complement system in the glomeruli of the kidneys. The glomeruli are tiny structures in the kidneys responsible for filtering blood and removing waste products from the body. The complement system is a part of the immune system that helps defend the body against infections, but when dysregulated, it can cause damage to the kidneys.
CAUSES AND PATHOPHYSILOGY C3 GLOMERULOPATHY (C3G)
- In C3 glomerulopathy, there is an excessive buildup of a protein called C3 in the glomeruli, leading to inflammation and damage. There are two main subtypes of C3G:
- Dense Deposit Disease (DDD): DDD is characterized by the deposition of dense material (C3 nephritic factor) within the glomeruli, leading to chronic inflammation and scarring.
- C3 Glomerulonephritis (C3GN): C3GN is characterized by the presence of C3 deposits in the glomeruli without the dense material seen in DDD. It is also associated with chronic inflammation and kidney damage.
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF C3 GLOMERULOPATHY:
- Blood in the urine (hematuria)
- Proteinuria (excess protein in the urine)
- High blood pressure
- Edema (swelling), particularly around the eyes, ankles, and feet
- Decreased kidney function
Diagnosis of C3G involves a combination of clinical evaluation, blood and urine tests, kidney biopsy. The kidney biopsy is crucial for confirming the diagnosis and determining the specific subtype of C3G.
FEW HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINE FOR C3 GLOMERULOPATHY:
Apis Mellifica: Apis is often used for kidney conditions with swelling and puffiness around the eyes and face. It can be helpful in managing kidney inflammation, especially in cases of nephrotic syndrome.
Berberis Vulgaris: This remedy is well-known for its use in kidney stones and renal colic. It may help in managing pain, discomfort, and urinary issues associated with kidney stones.
Cantharis: Cantharis is a primary remedy for urinary tract infections, including those involving the kidneys. It may help relieve burning and cutting pains during urination.
Lycopodium: Lycopodium is used for kidney conditions with symptoms like bloating, gas, and difficulty passing urine. It may be beneficial in managing kidney stones and other urinary issues.
Sarsaparilla: Sarsaparilla is often considered for kidney stones and urinary disorders. It may help relieve burning sensations during urination and pain in the kidney region.
Solidago Virgaurea: Solidago is used for kidney conditions with proteinuria and frequent urination. It may help in managing symptoms associated with kidney inflammation.
Terebinthina: Terebinthina is used for kidney conditions with albuminuria (presence of protein in the urine) and hematuria (presence of blood in the urine). It may be helpful in managing glomerulonephritis.
